It Might Be Fine (But I Just Don’t Know) 3:31
This is a song about the absurdity of existing with anxiety or grief, and trying to exist doing completely normal things on a day-to-day basis. It was originally written in response to losing a job, but was released just before Election Day 2024.
Annie Adversary 4:09
Originally, this was a songwriting challenge to use a particular set of synthesizers for a contest; turns out it was all techno. This wasn’t techno. So all the synths were removed and the perfectly-good song was reconstructed. It’s really not about anything but having a good time.
RESIST! (with Tanya Venom) 3:33
The true story of how I met my spouse, including my deeply cringe-worthy pickup line.
I’m at my ex’s apartment and I’m staring at the wall
She’s saying something dumb, kinda like a mental hair ball
She’s dating my best friend, they were fuckin’ the minute I was gone
Trying to be the bigger one, but here I am writing this song
Resist! Resist! Not my first ex who’s done this
Resist! Resist! Tear at the wall and all of this
A kitten on a leash resists society
I want to run and hide just that kitten and me
I turn around and there’s the roommate, walking down the hall
She’s just my type, she’s got the glasses, and Shakespeare on her wall
I can feel the ex’s eyes, burning in the side of my head
But your roommate is fair game, girl; just look at you and my friend
Come sit down
By the TV
Just you and me
Resist! Resist! Not my first ex who’s done this
Resist! Resist! Tear at the wall and all of this
A kitten on a leash resists society
I want to run and hide just that kitten and me
Persist! Persist! Twenty-one years since we first kissed
Persist! Persist! Without her I would not exist
Persist! Persist! Twenty-one years since we first kissed
Persist! Persist! Thank God I never could resist
I’m not sure what ever happened to that ex-girlfriend
But I know I’ll be here, until the day I’m dead
Yeah you know
And now they know
